TAMPA – Artists who focus on aquatic and ocean life are invited to show their work at the first SHARKAPALOOZA, February 5 from noon to 5pm at 81Bay Brewing Company in South Tampa. SHARKAPALOOZA, a day for celebrating the oceans through artwork promises to be fun-filled with activities for children, shark movies, local food trucks, a beer release, music and more!
The events founder, Artist and Ocean Advocate Jessica Adanich came up with the idea to continue to use art to draw attention to the need for shark conservation. Every year, around the world, about 100 million sharks are killed for their fins. Even though they are vital to the marine ecosystem, the issue often gets overlooked.
Adanich’s love for the ocean inspired her to create a large scale “Fuzzy Sharks” art installation as a way to educate and inspire individuals to care about sharks. The installation brought to life the question, “If sharks were fuzzy, would people care more?”
Through SHARKAPALOOZA, Adanich once again celebrates the oceans through artwork and hopes that other artists will join her on this adventure. The event is open to all mediums with the only requirement being that the subject matter should be ocean related.
The event is free to attend and open to all!
The cost per artist space is only $25. Each artist will receive an 8’ or 10’ table space. These will be assigned to artists prior to the event. (Artists are asked to bring their own table and display structures.)
