Cortez, Fla. (1/20/2022) – The Florida Maritime Museum (FMM) will host the Island Branch Library, part of the Manatee County Library system, as library staff conduct outreach on Saturday, January 22 and Saturday, February 12 from 2PM – 4PM. The Island Branch outreach visits coincide with Music on the Porch both Saturdays and offer visitors multiple opportunities to experience and engage with music and reading.
On January 22, library staff will have family-friendly instruments available for visitors to play, as well as information on library cards and public library resources. On February 12, staff will again have family-friendly instruments available for visitors to play, as well as an interactive activity for young (or young at heart) visitors to make their own musical instrument. There is no cost for partaking in the activities on either day.

ABOUT THE FLORIDA MARITIME MUSEUM
Serving the public since 2007, the museum’s mission is to collect, preserve and share traditional knowledge, cultural artifacts and personal stories specific to Florida’s fishing and maritime heritage. The Florida Maritime Museum is a part of the Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s Historical Resources Department, with additional support from the Friends of the Florida Maritime Museum. Situated on the Cortez Nature Preserve, FMM grounds were purchased with funds from the Florida Communities Trust Preservation 2000 Program and the Manatee County Board of County Commission.
