TAMPA – United Way Suncoast will partner with the Hillsborough Community College Allied Health Institute for Corporate and Continuing Education for another certified nursing assistant training program, it’s third since the fall of 2021. Virtual information sessions will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Jan. 18 and 6-7 p.m. on Jan. 19. Visit www.tampatraining.com/united-way for details to register for the information sessions on Zoom.
Community members who complete the course can work immediately as a Home Health Aide and will be eligible to take the CNA state licensing exam.
The program will take place at Rithm at Uptown (University Mall) and the United Way Suncoast Sulphur Springs Resource Center, 8412 N 12th St. It’ll involve classroom, lab and online training, including 40 hours in the clinical setting.
However, it also will include life skills lessons that help participants thrive in the workplace and elevate their careers. Officials from Dress for Success, CDC of Tampa, Tampa Family Health Centers, CareerSource Tampa Bay, Positive Spin and Devereux Kids will offer encouraging advice about perseverance and professionalism.
The course fee is $1,099, but scholarships are available. The fee covers all student materials including scrubs, textbooks and a blood pressure cuff. Students will be responsible for a $50 background check and $35 drug screen, but United Way Suncoast will reimburse those fees upon successful completion of the course.
For more information, call the United Way Suncoast Sulphur Springs Resource Center at (813) 936-3064, or send an email to kmiller@uwsuncoast.org or efeliz@uwsuncoast.org.
