Two Fertility Trailblazers Will Reunite on January 20 to Launch Year of Education, Advocacy and Awareness on Reproductive Medicine
Carr to make first book signing appearance next month in Florida at Brown Fertility, a clinic founded by IVF pioneer pupil Dr. Samuel E. Brown
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (January 6, 2022) – Elizabeth Jordan Carr, the first child conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF) in the United States, is releasing her memoir, “Under the Microscope,” tomorrow, January 7, to tell her personal story of life as the United States’ modern medical miracle. Having recently celebrated her 40th birthday, Carr is now a wife, mother, former journalist, and advocate for fertility education, continuing her work through her new book. She will make her first official stop of her book tour in Jacksonville, Florida, to speak to media and Brown Fertility staff on January 20, kicking off their partnership.
Carr and Dr. Samuel E. Brown, Medical Director and Founder of Brown Fertility, have partnered to promote education and awareness of stigmas surrounding fertility and in vitro fertilization throughout 2022, a landmark birthday for Carr and anniversary of IVF. In a field that is relatively young compared to most other areas of medicine, there is still a lot of work to be done. Carr was born on December 28, 1981.
“Given the limitless potential of reproductive medicine, and the youngest form of medicine, 40 years doesn’t seem that long ago. We’re still at the forefront of a revolution and just as Elizabeth brought hope from the moment her life began, she continues to do so through her advocacy and passion and we are honored to be collaborating with her,” said Dr. Samuel E. Brown, a former pupil of the Joneses and founder of Brown Fertility, a fully comprehensive fertility clinic. Dr. Brown, in fact, completed his Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship at the Jones Institute.
The partnership officially kicks off during the January 20 event held at Brown Fertility’s Jacksonville headquarters with a joint press conference with Dr. Brown and a motivational speech to members of the Brown Fertility team.
“This story —my story —is not just about how far fertility options have come, it’s also about growing up and into yourself, and what it means to be ‘the first’ of something,” said Carr. “I am humbled to be able to lend my voice to those navigating whatever personal battles they may be facing. I hope this book serves as a reminder that we all are already enough.”
