Tampa General Opens TGH Urgent CareA new urgent care facility operated by Tampa General Hospital is now open at 40545 US 19 in the shopping plaza with Firehouse Subs. The new facility offers treatment of non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, along with lab services, occupational health services, and more. TGH Urgent Care is open seven days a week, 8 am- 8 pm to serve residents. The Tarpon Springs location is the 13th TGH facility in the Tampa Bay region.
Welcome New Businesses: Zen City Herb n’ Compoundand The Healing Hedge Witch
Tarpon Springs has more positive energy with the recent openings of two new businesses. Zen City Herb n’ Compound, 1730 S. Pinellas Ave., Suite A, is an organic apothecary and tea house with a yoga studio, library, and gift items. On Tarpon Avenue, The Healing Hedge Witch, 155 E. Tarpon Ave., offers a new shopping experience for the spiritually curious. One can find everything from essential oils, infused soaking salts, metaphysical jewelry, stones, to plant-based products. Both stores will help shoppers find tools to heal the body, spirit, and mind.
Coming Soon: Stumpy’s Hatchet HouseAn exciting new recreational facility is coming to Downtown in early 2022. Stumpy’s Hatchet House will be opening at 201 E. Center St., on the Pinellas Trail just two blocks north of Tarpon Avenue. The facility will feature lane-styled throwing pits, mezzanine viewing area, bar, retail space, and outdoor seating, games, and walkup window for beverage service. The owners currently operate a Stumpy’s in Tampa.
Sponge Exchange Changes Hands; Improvements ComingThe Sponge Exchange, a shopping village at the center of the Sponge Docks and historic for its role in the formation of Tarpon Springs, was sold in November. The new owners, who are Tarpon residents and of Greek descent, are planning renovations and upgrades to the facility. The Sponge Exchange is comprised of dozens of specialty shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, with a center atrium for music and performances.
