Watson Clinic Cardiologist Introduces Peripheral Vascular Disease Program

November 18, 2021 by Post

Lakeland, FL – According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 6.5 million Americans aged 40 and older suffer from peripheral vascular disease (PVD), a troubling group of conditions that can affect arteries and veins outside of the heart. Watson Clinic board-certified Interventional Cardiologist Zia Rab, MD recently introduced a new PVD program to help patients relieve or reverse the symptoms of these painful and potentially life threatening disorders.

“I employ a variety of highly effective minimally-invasive techniques to manage or reverse the effects of claudication (pain in the legs due to plaque build-up in the arteries), renal and carotid artery disease, non-healing wounds and ulcers of the legs, as well as chronic varicose veins,” Dr. Rab reports.

Dr. Rab received his medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He did his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY, a Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at Hofstra University Northwell School of Medicine in Manhasset, NY, and an additional fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the Society of Vascular Medicine. Dr. Rab possesses multiple board-certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Adult Echocardiography and Endovascular Medicine, and is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).

Dr. Rab is now accepting patient referrals from both within and outside of Watson Clinic, including podiatrists, primary care providers, wound care physicians, and experts in infectious diseases. Most procedures are performed at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center and office based venous procedures are performed at the Watson Clinic Main Campus at 1600 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland.

Referrals and appointments with Dr. Rab may be scheduled by calling 863-680-7490.
