New Name, Same Family

TAMPA, Fla. (Nov. 15, 2021) – Memorial Hospital of Tampa and its Tampa Community Hospital campus are among the first in the state to adopt the new HCA Florida Healthcare brand today. The new branding reflects the Tampa sites’ connection to HCA Florida Healthcare, the state’s leading collaborative network delivering advanced, personalized care to Florida patients and families. Owned and operated by HCA Healthcare, one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers, the hospital’s new brand will create a unified presence across the state for the benefit of our patients, colleagues, physicians and communities.
Our new facility brand names are:
- Memorial Hospital of Tampa is now HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital
- Tampa Community Hospital is now HCA Florida West Tampa Hospital, a part of HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital, and
- Our free-standing emergency department currently under construction will be HCA Florida Central Tampa Emergency, a part of HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital
“We are excited to be part of the first group of hospitals to reflect the new HCA Florida Healthcare brand with names that directly link us to the communities we so proudly serve,” said Sonia Wellman, chief executive officer of HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital. “Our new names clearly illustrate that we are part of a unified, connected network of excellence across the state. While our names have changed, our commitment to caring for our patients and moving healthcare forward remains the same.’
These facilities are the first of more than 400 affiliated sites of care across the state to begin using the HCA Florida Healthcare brand. By spring 2022, the remaining sites of care in Florida, including hospitals, freestanding emergency rooms and physician practices, will officially adopt the statewide brand, uniting more than 11,000 active and affiliated physicians and more than 77,000 colleagues.
“Our colleagues and physicians across Florida have long been united in serving our mission. Now, we will also be united under the HCA Florida Healthcare brand and will continue to work together to deliver top-quality care for patients across the Sunshine State,” said Chuck Hall, national group president at HCA Healthcare.
HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital is located in the heart of South Tampa, providing a comprehensive array of services including some of the most advanced robotic and minimally invasive surgical programs in the area.
The HCA Florida West Tampa Hospital campus is home to one of the largest and most comprehensive adult mental health programs in Hillsborough County, having recently completed a $19.5 million expansion. This includes a full-service emergency department with an eight-bed dedicated mental health emergency department, adult inpatient mental health, geriatric mental health and inpatient hospital-based substance abuse treatment. The $50 million Hospital for Endocrine Surgery program is also under construction at this site. When completed later this year, it will provide highly specialized treatments and services for patients with endocrine conditions of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.
HCA Florida Healthcare is also anticipating the completion of another construction project, a new freestanding ER currently under construction in West Florida and scheduled to open in early 2022. HCA Florida Central Tampa Emergency will be a part of HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital.
As well as new names, HCA Healthcare facilities throughout Florida are also adopting a new “Diamond Plus” logo. The new logo features a diamond in the middle representing our patients, who are at the center of everything we do. The four surrounding avenues represent how we come together to serve our patients through our legacy, scale, partnership and innovation. The HCA Healthcare orange evokes feelings of warmth and health, while the use of the HCA Healthcare navy color in the text reflects our long-standing foundation to commitment, trust and loyalty.
No matter where you are in the state, HCA Florida Healthcare is never far away. Our expansive network of hospitals and physician practices provides patients and their families access to some of Florida’s most advanced treatments, innovative technologies and experienced specialists.
