
(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 26, 2021) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Symphonic Band will present “Welcome Home: In Gratitude to Our Veterans,” a Veterans Day Concert, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at SCF Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W.
An evening of gratitude and appreciation, this traditional Veterans Day concert will feature all your Americana favorites in a sing-along with “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “America the Beautiful,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “God Bless the USA.”
Other selections will include “Each Time You Tell Their Story” by composer Samuel Hazo with the poem “At the Site of the Memorial” read by SCF Athletic Director Matt Ennis; “A Celebration of Taps” arranged by Jerry Brubaker; “Elegy for the U.S.S. Arizona,” a piece honoring the U.S. Navy Band #22 members who perished on the U.S.S. Arizona at Pearl Harbor; the John Williams “March From 1941;” a series of pieces selected to honor specific branches including “Eternal Father, Strong to Save,” “The US Field Artillery March” and “Valor of the MNC-I” and more.
Masks are strongly encouraged on campus while inside when proper social distancing cannot be practiced, for individuals not fully vaccinated or if preferred by the individual.
