Program Helps Make Services More Accessible to Non-English Speakers
TAMPA, Fla. – (Oct. 13, 2021) – The Clerk of Court and Comptroller of Hillsborough County, FL, Cindy Stuart, has implemented a bilingual pay policy to recognize and compensate bilingual employees who apply their language skills in the workplace. The program will help make services more available to non-English speaking members of our community, particularly the more than 45,000 Hispanic customers who need translation and interpretation support.
Since taking office, Cindy Stuart has worked tirelessly to cultivate a culture that is not only committed to providing excellent customer service to all who need the Clerk’s services, but that also celebrates their many differences. She remains community-focused in her efforts to provide representative voices to Hillsborough County’s diverse population in order to be more effective.
The program strategically utilizes those customer-facing employees fluent in a non-English language whose duties require the use of that language on a regular basis, such as the dedicated group of employees who perform Spanish wedding ceremonies daily.
“Our bilingual employees provide a tremendous service to not only their fellow employees, but to their community as well,” said Cindy Stuart, Clerk of Court and Comptroller, Hillsborough County, FL. “This policy demonstrates our commitment and appreciation of them for ensuring our services are accessible to all of our customers who need language support.”
