Tips for Hiding Unwanted Scars

October 11, 2021 by Post

Some people are proud of their scars, like a cesarean scar or a reminder of an important surgery. For others, scars are a reminder of a painful time, such as a bad accident or a period of self-harm. Regardless of how they formed, you have the right to conceal them or show them off in any way you choose. For those looking to hide their unwanted scars, there are more options than just covering up your body with clothing.

Don’t be afraid to show some skin! Here are a few ways to take the focus off your scars and put more emphasis on the real you.

Tattooing

Tattoos are already a great way to express yourself. Covering up a scar with a beautiful tattoo is an awesome way to hide the things you don’t want the world to see, while showing off something important to you. Whether it be a portrait of a loved one, a memorable quote, or just a piece of art you admire, a talented tattoo artist can work around your scar and turn your body into a work of art itself. Just remember, scars are difficult to tattoo on and around, so be sure to seek out an experienced professional who has worked with scar cover-ups in the past.

If body art isn’t really your thing, there are other tattoo routes you can take that can make your scar less noticeable. Camouflage tattooing is a fairly new concept that involves introducing subtle pigments into your skin to help the scar blend more naturally. Regardless of which route you want to take, there is likely a great tattoo artist in your area that can assist.

Make-up

For those looking for a less permanent solution, make-up is a great way to hide scars temporarily. If you don’t want to remove your scars entirely but want to cover them up for a specific occasion, there are a lot of great scar cover-up make-up options on the market right now, and these products just keep getting better and better as time goes by.

Silicone Treatment

Looking to fade your scars without spending big bucks for professional treatment? Silicone scar treatment has been making waves in the industry, and studies have shown it’s one of the most effective at-home scar treatments available. Usually available in gel or tape, silicone treatment works by building a layer over your scar to protect it, keep it hydrated, and smooth out the skin, making it less visible to the naked eye.

Laser Treatment

If you’re invested in the scar removal process and are willing to spend top dollar on hiding your unwanted scars, laser treatment is one of the less invasive procedures. Laser skin therapy works in an interesting way, almost by creating a new scar over the old one. This new scar is less noticeable, therefore making the old one underneath practically invisible. This is a great option for very obvious, raised scars that just won’t seem to fade with over-the-counter treatments.
