(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 5, 2021) — Future educators are invited to attend State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) virtual information sessions about the Educator Preparation Institute (EPI). This program is available for anyone with at least a bachelor’s degree in a noneducation major or for teachers with temporary certificates who need professional certification to teach.
Sessions will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5, and Wednesday, Nov. 3. To join, simply visitSCF.edu/TeacherEd and select your preference. No preregistration is necessary. Topics that will be covered include the application process, EPI curriculum and the key steps to complete before becoming certified to teach.
EPI participants can attain teaching certification in as few as nine months. The program offers blended evening classes with online components one night a week, allowing working professionals the flexibility to participate. Experienced classroom teachers and administrators serve as instructors and mentors to help make EPI graduates classroom ready. Those who succeed in passing the Subject Area Exam and General Knowledge Exam will be eligible for the Florida Department of Education’s professional teaching certificate.
The cost is $2,640 per person. Applications for the EPI program are available at SCF.edu/TeacherEd. For more information, contact Araceli Cumbo, EPI coordinator, at CumboA@SCF.edu or 941-408-1481.
