(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 5, 2021) — The first event of the 2021-22 Faculty Lecture Series at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), “The Director’s Vision: Art and Creative Problem Solving” with Assistant Professor of Film Chris Fletcher, will take place at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at SCF Bradenton, Studio for Performing Arts, 5840 26th St. W.
The free lecture will include a showing of Fletcher’s short film, “The Punishment,” which has screened at film festivals across the United States and has won awards at “Atlanta Shortsfest 2021,” “Beaufort International Film Festival 2021” and “Knoxville Film Festival 2021.” Fletcher will explore the role of the film director through a behind-the-scenes look at three specific moments from the making of “The Punishment” – moments that presented challenges to the director’s vision and opportunities for creative problem solving.
Fletcher joined SCF in 2020 after earning a Master of Fine Arts in advanced film practice from Screen Academy Scotland at Edinburgh Napier University.
The lecture is open to the public. Masks are strongly encouraged on campus while inside when proper social distancing cannot be practiced, for individuals not fully vaccinated or if preferred by the individual. For more information, contact Fletcher at FletchC1@SCF.edu or 941-752-5460.
