The fun event got the attention of healthcare workers around the Tampa Bay Area for the last month and a half.
To review, The Regent event space venue took possession of wedding dresses about to be simply tossed before Covid and had to wait to determine what to do with them. Now local first responder healthcare workers will have amazing couture wedding dresses of their dreams. There were about 30 dresses available to start and they ranged in value from $800-$2800. The goal was to give them away to those deserving healthcare first responders in hospitals. Since the story was revealed, some local residents have even donated their unworn dresses to share in the great cause. They reached out after the first stories aired.
For the last month and a half the nominations have been pouring in. The Regent CEO Shannon Keil, the organizer herself, came down with Covid 3 weeks ago and almost died. Her desire to give back to the front line medical teams helping Covid patients took on even new meaning and importance. Her Dr. calls her survival and recovery miraculous..
Some of the ladies have been signing up once they got word they were a winner and had fittings, others must still get their fittings complete. All the winners will attend a big Wedding Dress Giveaway Reveal set for Thursday, September 29th at The Regent in Riverview. The big event is set for 11 am. Attendees will hear the amazing stories of life, love and weddings to be. Attendees will surely need to have the tissues handy.
Brides to be include a local nurse who’s traveled the country to help out in several hospitals, a bride whose mother is undergoing cancer treatments and this brings them great joy, another whose mother is gone, yet her aunt watched the fitting and it was like her mom was there too. The stories are remarkable and they are over the moon at how this is saving them money and many are still shocked it’s free to them. It’s pretty fantastic!!
Nominations are still being received to help more benefit from the good will and to find the remaining dresses a match.
