DETAILS: The Straz Center, Art2Action and Paint 22 have joined forces to present the Veteran Community Open Mic and visual arts series, a creative and courageous space, where all people are welcome regardless of identity. It’s a space where all can bring their full selves, listen, share and grow together.
The program will begin with a welcome from Jazz musician and Marine Corps veteran Fred Johnson. Andrea Assaf, artistic director of Art2Action and poet-veteran J-9 will co-host the event, with old school soul and hip-hop from DJ Cotton. Paint 22 will provide art exhibits featuring veteran artists at each event. This event features Coast Guard veteran Jack Yontz.
Open Mic sign-up spots are up to five minutes each, in any genre or creative form. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required, at www.art2action.org.
This is a FREE event. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
Art2Action respectfully requests that an alcohol/substance-free and weapons-free environment be maintained.
