St. Petersburg, FL — Canterbury School of Florida is excited to announce the completion of an additional building to their Hough Campus, after months of careful planning and renovations by architect, WJArchitects, and builder, WJCreate. The new building, named the Susan Rose Hough Academic Building, was made possible by Canterbury’s successful two-million-dollar Capital Campaign and the school’s generous endowment fund. The Capital Campaign was created to develop a lasting legacy for Canterbury’s current and future students.
The Susan Rose Hough Academic Building on the Hough Campus features ten large classrooms and an additional 6,473 sq ft to provide students and faculty the space they need to collaborate effectively.
“The addition of the new building has provided exciting new learning opportunities for our students,” said Claudine Cieutat, Head of Hough Campus. “The additional space allows students to collaborate in groups, while working on activities and projects. It also provides us with a dedicated classroom for Spanish class and a larger space for our musical education.”
Canterbury School of Florida’s Hough Campus is used for students in PK3 through Grade 4 and features playground space and an outdoor courtyard where students participate in an interactive flag ceremony.
“We are so thankful for the overwhelming support of our Canterbury community,” said Mac Hall, Canterbury’s Head of School. “This renovation is just the beginning as we continue working to build a legacy that will encourage curiosity, exploration, and fun for all Canterbury students.”
As the Canterbury School of Florida Capital Campaign continues, the Hough Campus is expected to see more changes. The school has begun expanding classrooms, and will continue with the construction of a new learning center and renovations to the main office.
