ORLANDO – The Hidden Delight of God a new book that parallels the struggles, doubts and fears people face today with the ancient story of The Exodus, has been authored by a local pastor and it will be available at major book retailers Sept 28.
John Hever, pastor of downtown Orlando’s non-denominational H20 Church – “A church for the spiritually curious” – at 2113 E. South St., said he was inspired to write the book while reading Exodus from the Bible.
“I started writing this to process my own faith journey but, before long, I realized that the ancient exodus story is everyone’s story, and that this message could help a lot of people,” he said, adding “This is my story but it’s yours as well because we are all on a ‘faith journey’ of what we believe about God.”
Hever said he titled his book The Hidden Delight of God because it brings to light “what might be the most important thing we can discover about God and yet, for many, that has been hidden from view,” he explained.
The manuscript offers Hever’s perspective of his own life as a dedicated husband, father raising a family of four, while discovering and defining his own identity. It’s filled with real-life personal stories that reveal how he eventually started closing the gap between his feelings and his faith, and how God leads us to circumstances designed to make us the person we are meant to become.
Hever has received some very positive feedback —
“Some Christian books are profound and Biblical, some fun, some will haunt you with the truth and some will change your life. John Hever has pulled off all four. You will never again read about the Exodus of God’s people out of Egypt into the promised land without thinking about The Hidden Delight of God. This is a refreshing book and a game changer. You will ‘rise up and call me blessed’ for commending it to you.” Steve Brown, radio broadcaster, sometime seminary professor and author.
“In an age when personal freedoms are constantly demanded, many people still live enslaved. John Hever has given us an honest and thorough review of why we continue to live in bondage and how we might find our way clear to a new life of freedom in Christ. It won’t be easy, but he shows you why it will be a worthwhile journey!” Dr. David Swanson, Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, and noted author (Learning to be You: How Our True Identity in Christ Sets Us Free, and The Essentials.)
“Those are just a couple of the positive comments I was given. And I’ve been told that this is a timely message of hope in a time when we desperately need hope,” Hever said.
The 220-page paperback published by Emerge Publishing will be available Sept.28 where ever books are sold or by visiting www.howtoliveunleashed.com .
