Date Night Ideas for the Fall Season

Fall is one of the most romantic seasons of the year. There’s something about the crispness in the air that makes you want to snuggle up against your loved one, or take a stroll in the park, hand in hand, to watch the leaves change. This fall season, surprise your partner with a special date night adventure they’re sure to remember forever.

Pumpkin Patch

There’s nothing that says “autumn” more than the pumpkin patch. Enjoy a hot cup of cider as you navigate through a spooky corn maze, or take a romantic hayride and enjoy the sights as you snuggle up under a blanket. Each pumpkin patch has its own fun activities and areas to explore. The fun doesn’t have to end when you leave! Be sure to take home a pumpkin for date night part 2; carving the jack-o-lantern when you return home is half of the fun. There’s nothing that bonds you more than being wrist-deep in pumpkin goo, right?

Horror Movie Night

If you’re looking to plan a date night at home, fall is the perfect time to do a horror movie marathon. Stock up on popcorn and other snacks before queuing up your favorite spooky flicks. If you’re not a fan of jump scares and gore, there are always the classics to choose from. Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, and Hocus Pocus are always great for the faint of heart, while The Shining, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are perfect for those looking for a scare. Plus, a horror movie is a great excuse to cuddle up even closer on the couch.

Haunted Attraction

If a horror movie just isn’t enough to get you spooked enough for spooky season, you may want to head to a local haunted attraction for an in-person experience. Hayrides and haunted houses are always a great option, but I personally think the best attractions are “real.” Visit some of Canada’s most haunted locations, like the The Fairmont Empress in Victoria, or the HI-Ottawa Jail Hostel in Ottawa. Wherever you’re located, there’s surely a ghost tour near you that will have you up at night wondering if any of the Banff homes for sale you’ve been shopping for are actually haunted…

Plan your Couple’s Costume

Planning a couple’s costume for this year’s Halloween party can be a stressful experience, so why not make it fun? Instead of visiting the Halloween store and arguing about which costume looks the most authentic or is the best quality, spend a night at home crafting up the coolest custom creations! Order take out, throw on some music, and make a date night out of the experience of making your Halloween costume from scratch. Novice costume creators can search through closets for inspiration, old accessories, and outdated pieces that can be Frankensteined together (get it?) to make the ultimate party outfit. Looking for something more challenging? Check out a tutorial on YouTube and try your hand at sewing something together. Even if it doesn’t turn out great, it was the fun you had together that counts!
