Storybook Street Slides into South County

August 25, 2021 by Post

An Imagination Destination Where Books Come To Life

When: Saturday, September 18, 2021

Where: CoolToday Park: Spring Training Home of the Atlanta Braves

18800 South West Villages Pkwy, Venice

Time: 9am-11am

New venue, new book titles, same literacy initiative! After Sarasota’s Storybook Street success in April, the book-themed wonderland is heading to North Port.

The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County is excited to once again collaborate with local arts and culture organizations to bring children’s books to life. Designed with little ones in mind, Storybook Street is a FREE, family-friendly, fun-filled, drive-thru book giveaway. The event, or more like an extravaganza, is ideal for children between the ages of birth to 7. It will feature dance, drama, art, music, movement and more. Each family will drive away with 18 new children’s books, a swag bag of goodies and meaningful, memorable moments to help foster an early love of reading.

We are excited to partner with Sarasota’s premier arts community as we showcase the many talents of artists from Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, Sarasota Orchestra, Circus Arts Conservatory, Florida Studio Theatre, Venice Theatre, Ringling College, Ringling Museum ROAR program, Venice Symphony, Irish Dance Academy of Sarasota, and more!

Our list of collaborators continues with Sarasota County Libraries, Siesta Key Kiwanis Club and Pi Beta Phi Sarasota-Manatee Alumnae Club.

Children are welcome to dress up as their favorite storybook character! And, to add to the children’s excitement, the Ringling College Royals will bring some of those favorite characters to life, meeting and greeting their little fans as they wait in the car queue.

All families must remain in their cars for the entire event. No registration required.

The Early Learning Coalition looks forward to your coverage of our unique and special event!
