The Child Protection Center, Inc. (CPC) has received a $10,000 grant from the PNC Foundation. This funding will provide essential support to the nonprofit as it faces the increased demand for child abuse services brought by the pandemic.
“The pandemic has created a greater demand for all of CPC’s programs and services,” said Doug Staley, CPC’s Executive Director. “Specifically, the severity of child abuse has increased and CPC’s Therapy Program has over 60 children, who have been physically or sexually abused, on a waiting list for services. This in itself is an epidemic”
The PNC Foundation’s funding will directly support the four core programs of the organization- the Personal Safety & Community Awareness Program (PSCA), the Child Protection Team (CPT), the Children and Families Supervised Visitation Program (CFSVP), and Therapy.
The Child Protection Center’s mission is the Prevention, Intervention, & Treatment of Child Abuse, as the organization envisions a community where children are safe from abuse and free to thrive. For over 40 years, CPC has been serving Sarasota and DeSoto Counties in the State of Florida, and is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance. In fiscal year 2020, CPC provided 66,698 services to individuals. For more information on CPC, visit www.cpcsarasota.org or call 941-365-1277.
