The SPIRITS of St. Petersburg is participating in it’s fourth installation of the World’s Largest Ghost Hunt, this year hosted by the Suntan Art Center. We are the only team in West Central Florida to be selected for the event (the other teams are in St. Augustine and South Florida).
The Suntan Art Center is housed in the Don Vista building. Built in 1924 by Thomas Rowe, the famed businessman lived there as he oversaw the building of the Don Cesar. The Don Vista was then converted to administrative offices and a bank for the hotel. After World War II ended, it was sold along with the hotel to the US Army for back taxes. Then, the Don Vista held governmental offices and a library for the department of Fish and Wildlife. In 1984, the Suntan Art Center moved into the building and has inhabited it ever since.
This event includes a paranormal investigation course, breakout sessions to work with special equipment, and a walk through the historic building. Some still wonder if the energies of the past still linger within its walls.
The event has limited seating, will follow the COVID restrictions set by the art center, and lasts three hours. It takes place on Sept. 25, 6 – 9 PM and will be broadcast through the World’s Largest Ghost Hunt livestream from 8 – 9 PM. Tickets are $30, and 50% of the profits are being donated to the Suntan Art Center, which is a 501C3.
