Newtown Community Cleanup set for Saturday, Aug. 7

SARASOTA COUNTY – It’s time to clean out the garage and gather discarded household items, appliances, junk, tree trimmings, and other materials as Sarasota County will hold a free community cleanup in the Newtown area from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 7.  Dumpsters will be available at the following intersection locations: 
Newtown Estates Park and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Chilk Avenue and 19th Street. 23rd Street and Chester Avenue. 
Electronics such as computers and televisions will be accepted at the main location at Newtown Estates Park and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. 
No hazardous waste such as oils, gasoline, aerosol paints, auto parts, commercial printers, and tires over 26 X 16 will be accepted at cleanup locations. However, these items may be taken to the Sarasota County Chemical Collection Centers 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. The centers are located at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota; and 250 S.
