University of Tampa graduate student presents mental health awareness film “Beyond Adversity”

Tampa, FL: Saturday, August 7th, at 3:00 p.m. in Reeve’s Theater, the University of Tampa will premiere “Beyond Adversity,” a film centered on mental health and the impact others can have on our emotional well-being.

“Beyond Adversity” tackles mental health from multiple perspectives including: PTSD in veterans, cancer, sexual abuse, alcoholism, divorce, and feelings of powerlessness. The film highlights the importance of relationships and personal support in dealing with mental health challenges.

“Beyond Adversity” was written, directed, and produced by University of Tampa graduate student Kaneesha “Kiki” Heath. and stars actors from Tampa Bay, New York, Atlanta, and California. The film is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

The premiere for “Beyond Adversity” is part of Heath’s graduate studies in professional communication at the University of Tampa. The doors open at 2:30 p.m. and the event begins with a brief introduction by Heath.
