Hotel Rate and Occupancy Projections, Destination Marketing Strategies and Hotel Development Updates Will Be Highlighted
Tampa, FL (July 26, 2021) – An overview of current market conditions impacting the Tampa Bay area as a popular travel destination, and factors that will continue to influence both leisure and business travel locally, will be presented to Hillsborough County Hotel Motel Association (HCHMA) members on Wednesday, July 28.
The 22nd Annual Trends & Forecasting Forum presented by HCHMA is designed to help its member hoteliers prepare for changes in travel spending, provide updates on construction and openings of new hotels and assess what the overall demand for hotel rooms will be during the 2022 calendar year.
“The Forum has served over two decades as a unique platform for our hotels to have access to a range of data in a one-stop setting. After our collective pandemic experience, bringing a range of 2022 insights gives any sales or revenue projections a valuable local flavor and validity,” said Bob Morrison, HCHMA executive director.
The trends and forecasting event returns after a one-year absence when it was suspended due to COVID 19-related quarantines and temporary business closures. That unprecedented time forced hotels to remain empty and idle for months. Since re-opening, hotels have seen a strong surge in demand and new hotel properties have significantly increased the area’s inventory of guest rooms.
The half-day forum enables HCHMA lodging members, and member businesses that provide service and supplies to local hoteliers, to gain valuable insights and gather information that can help them plan annual budgets, develop sales strategies and create marketing campaigns. It will be held at the Tampa Airport Marriott at Tampa International Airport.
The featured speakers are as follows:
- Jennifer Foster, CHIA, Business Development Executive, Destinations, STR
- Lou Plasencia, Chief Executive Officer, The Plasencia Group
- Paul Clements, Research Analyst, Visit Florida
- Steve Hayes, President & CEO, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater
- Santiago Corrada, President & CEO, Visit Tampa Bay
In addition to presentations, the forum includes a trade show presented by select HCHMA allied members. Registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by presentations from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
