
In honor of Minority Mental Health Month, The Center for Wellness and Clinical Development will host its second annual State of Black Mental Health event. The virtual dialogue will be held on July 28, 2021 from 6:30-8 pm via zoom and will feature a courageous conversation about Mental health in the Black community.
The event will focus on a panel of experts, who through their profession, will facilitate much-needed dialogue about the trauma that African Americans face as a result of untreated mental health. The discussion will highlight the areas in which mental health challenges are more prevalent such as the educational system, the criminal justice system, and child welfare. Dr. Brittany Peters, Owner of Center for Wellness & Clinical Development, LLC. has over 14 years of experience in community mental health as a clinician, advocate, consultant, and clinical director. Peters will lead the conversation along with leaders from across the state of Florida that will provide input on causal factors and solutions through the lens of educators, therapists, lawyers, and peers with lived experience. The information presented will raise awareness of the Recent data and trends as it relates to mental health and help shape how we talk about mental wellness in Black and African American communities.
Center for Wellness & Clinical Development was founded in Feb 2018 by Dr. Brittany Peters.
Through the Social Determinants of Health lens, Center for Wellness & Clinical
Development provides training to encourage the development of culturally competent clinicians. Center for Wellness & Clinical Development also increases access to therapeutic care for underserved populations with a focus on ensuring providers are diverse and culturally relevant.
The mission is to respond to the mental health needs of the community through providing culturally competent services to members of the community and training to the therapists who serve the community.
