SARASOTA – The National Accreditation Commission (NAC) for Early Care and Education Programs announced that Starfish Academy at The Florida Center for Early Childhood has been awarded accreditation.
As an accredited center, Starfish Academy has been recognized as an early care and education program exemplifying excellence in the care of young children. Starfish Academy received accolades for providing a high quality curriculum for students, professional development opportunities for staff, and creating an environment that is conducive to the individual growth and development of young children.
“We are committed to offering our students and families a high-quality early childhood education,” said Susan Carney, director of early childhood education at The Florida Center. “We have made a long term commitment to NAC to maintain these standards in all areas of our education program.”
The lengthy accreditation process included a self-study in which administrators, staff, and parents evaluated the programs. Then, an onsite observation was conducted at Starfish Academy by an early childhood professional representing the NAC. During the observation, the evaluator noted exceptional safety practices and acknowledged the development of trust and emotional security between students and teachers. Starfish Academy was awarded accreditation based on the results.
“We are thrilled to receive this recognition,” said Dr. Kristie Skoglund, CEO of The Florida Center for Early Childhood. “This was not an easy process, but we are overjoyed with the outcome and feel confident that our preschool program is one of the best in the area.”
