Visible Men Academy (VMA), founded in 2012 to provide boys with outstanding academic, character, and social education in a nurturing school environment, announced today that it received a $27,200 grant from Truist Foundation.
The grant will fund three VMA programs, including after-school tutoring, the FSA SHINE Camp, and VMA’s Summer Literacy Program. VMA Founder and CEO A. Louis Parker said the school is grateful for both the financial support and the vote of confidence provided by Truist Foundation.
“Visible Men Academy strives every day to develop young men with high academic standing and strong moral character,” said Parker. “As we do so, we’re pleased that our efforts are recognized by corporate and foundation partners like Truist Foundation. This grant will strengthen several academic and character programs and help create a better, brighter tomorrow for our students.”
Two of the three programs funded by the Truist Foundation grant are all designed to prevent summer slide – that time where students aren’t focused on academics during the long, hot days of summer. Each of these programs – the FSA SHINE Camp and Summer Literacy Program – focus on preparing students for immediate success in the fall. The third program supported by Truist Foundation will provide tutoring to students as needed during the academic year.
“At Truist, our purpose – to inspire and build better lives and communities – is the starting point for everything we do,” said Mark Irwin, Sarasota County market president for Truist on behalf of the Truist Foundation. “Enriching today’s youth both academically and morally will benefit them in their roles as tomorrow’s leaders.”
