New Equipment to Help Speed ER Performance
St. Petersburg, FL – (July 2, 2021) – The emergency room at Palms of Pasadena Hospital has added a new, state-of-the-art computed tomography (CT) scanner to its inventory of diagnostic tools. The additional 64-slice scanner will further reduce CT wait times and boost the efficiency with which patients can be diagnosed and treated. Minutes can mean the difference between recovering with functionality or disability in some emergencies. The new CT delivers enhanced image quality and clinical capabilities to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
With stroke representing the second leading cause of death globally, rapid stroke detection can save lives and minimize stroke-related disabilities. Detection tools such as the CT can speed diagnosis and treatment for patients who are experiencing a TIA or stroke, for life saving interventions. In emergencies such as these, minutes matter.
“Having an additional CT scanner that’s devoted specifically to the ER helps us provide quicker care with greater convenience,” said Kevin Forsythe, Director of Emergency Services at the hospital. “Before this acquisition, we were already meeting our CT turnaround goals so, it’s exciting to think about how exemplary our performance will be going forward.”
Rated among HCA Healthcare’s top hospital-based emergency rooms in the nation for patient experience, Palms of Pasadena strives to continually raise the bar for emergency care while meeting the growing needs of the community, Forsythe explained.
