With the 2021 NFL season just around the corner, teams are already making substantial moves to help improve their performance and ranking during the tournament. Teams are split between signing new young players whom they can develop and also looking towards veteran players who already have the experience and skill to fill the holes in their roster. This year’s tournament promises to be fun and entertaining for both fans and spectators. For players looking to wager on their favourite teams, NFL betting sites will be readily available throughout the competition. But before the season commences, let’s take a look at some players we expect to be on the trade block.
1. Gardner Minshew II, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars
It’s simply a matter of when before quarterback Gardner Minshew II of the Jacksonville Jaguars gets signed to a new team in the NFL. Being a younger player, he has much potential following an impressive performance completing 62.9 percent of his passes with 37 touchdowns with 11 interceptions all in two seasons.
Being only 25 years of age, his move to a new team would be for the better as he would put much of his potential to good use when surrounded by talented players on a better-experienced team.
2. Zach Ertz, TE, Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles players are placed on the edge as the club has spent the 2021 offseason throwing players into the market to save up on running costs. They also made a trade with Miami Dolphins to move out of the sixth pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The main subject of rumours is veteran Zach Ertz who is expected to be on the market and might be considered hot cake by other teams.
3. Stephon Gilmore, CB, New England Patriots
New England Patriots players popping up on the trade block is nothing new as Bill Belichick still holds the reputation of dumping players who don’t match his playstyle anymore. The next player to feel the cut would be Stephon Gilmore. The 31-year old player is the team’s top cap charge and considering the team only has $15 million free, his cap of $16.2 million could make a good deal for the team. Also, taking note that the player is already at the peak of his career, this could be the last chance New England Patriots have of gaining good value off a trade.
4. Odell Beckham Jr., WR, Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns gained mainstream attention with the blockbuster trade it made for Odell Beckham Jr. a couple of years ago and while that seemed promising at the time, the team is yet to experience a return on its investment.
That could be one of the reasons why Beckham Jr. is a subject of trade rumours. Considering how the wide receiver has struggled with injuries, it would be a sensible move to place him on the block and trade him off while he is still considered by other teams.
5. Anthony Miller, WR, Chicago Bears
Wideout Anthony Miller might have come to the end of his run with the Chicago Bears with news about trade talks already suggesting that his fate is sealed. Miller has many issues to deal with as he only scored seven times as a rookie and only four more times over two seasons. In addition, he is yet to breach the 700-yard mark.
Taking note of the stats, it would be better to get something in return from the player right now rather than pushing his contract.
Bottom Line
The changes in ranks will be important not just for teams looking to win trophies but for the fans that have been disappointed over and over again by their favourite teams. The group that felt the worst losses were bettors looking to cash in on previously successful players. Hopefully, the trade-offs would make things more predictable this season.
