Panelists include representatives from Ocean Properties, Sandcastle Resort at Lido Beach, and the Resort at Longboat Key Club. This is the first time WRC is offering a webinar completely in Spanish—on June 24.
(Sarasota-Manatee; June 15, 2021) While the local hotel industry sees record occupancy rates as tourists flock to our area, employers face a workforce shortage to meet this demand. To connect individuals to the various career pathways available in this sector, the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is partnering with local hospitality employers on a free online webinar offering an overview of employment opportunities, Wednesday, June 23, noon to 1 p.m. A Spanish language version of the same webinar will be presented on Thursday, June 24, noon to 1 p.m.
These information sessions are part of WRC’s monthly Career Connections program that links women to quality jobs and funded training programs. Participants can attend by phone or computer and will be able to ask questions via a chatbox. Those interested in the English language webinar can register at www.mywrc.org/hotelindustry, and those wanting the Spanish-only version can register at www.mywrc.org/industriahotelera or call (941) 256-9721 for more information.
Panelists include representatives from Ocean Properties, Sandcastle Resort at Lido Beach, and the Resort at Longboat Key Club, who will share details about positions available at their Sarasota and Manatee beachfront hotels. These include front desk agent, housekeeping, pool and beach, food and beverage, and gift shop positions. Entry-level jobs with no experience offer starting wages of $14 to $15 per hour with free training. Current employees will also provide testimonials about their personal career paths in this field and the advancement opportunities available in this fast-paced industry.
This is the first time WRC has hosted a Career Connections webinar in both English and Spanish.
“We are excited to expand our reach to the growing Latina population in the community to help them connect to quality jobs,” explains Lori Gentile, WRC’s Director of Client Services. “We also offer bilingual mental health counseling, resource advising, career coaching, and financial advising.”
