TAMPA (June 14, 2021)—Former Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and former state Rep. James W. “Jamie” Grant will introduce this year’s recipients of the Tampa Tiger Bay Club’s Fifth Annual Lifetime Achievement Award at 6 p.m., Monday, June 21 at the historic Cuban Club in Ybor City. Tickets are $60 and the event is open to the public.
Buckhorn will introduce former Democratic state Sen. Arthenia Joyner and Grant will introduce his father, former Republican state Sen. John Grant.
The two senators found common ground on issues such as education despite their political differences. Before the Senate, both served in the Florida House of Representatives.
The Tampa Tiger Bay Club is a non-partisan political group that presents lively discussions on important issues and candidates running for office. Each year it presents lifetime achievement awards to a Democrat and a Republican.
Previous recipients of the awards include former Florida Gov. Bob Martinez, former Florida House Speaker Terrell Sessums, former U.S. Rep. Mike Bilirakis and former Florida Education Commissioner Betty Castor.
