Florida Council on Economic Education Recognizes Colleen Chappell for Business and Civic Achievements
TAMPA, Fla. (June 7, 2021) — Recognizing Colleen Chappell’s profound impact on the community and business landscape, the Florida Council on Economic Education (FCEE) inducted her into its most coveted levels of impact – the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame. Since 1988, the FCEE Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame has recognized exceptional individuals who’ve distinguished themselves through their contributions to the Tampa Bay community.
With an award-winning career spanning three decades, Chappell has not only transformed the region’s advertising industry, but she also dramatically changed the trajectory of the Tampa Bay business community. Beyond growing ChappellRoberts into one of the most prominent advertising agencies in the southeast region, she helped shape the broader community through countless civic leadership positions, dedicated mentorship, and volunteer roles.
Chappell joins an elite group of nearly 200 business leaders inducted into the FCEE’s Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame – an honor reserved for leaders who’ve made measurable and sustainable impacts through their business and civic achievements while serving as lifelong examples of integrity and high ideals. During the FCEE’s 33rd Annual Celebration Event, Chappell was recognized among the Hall of Fame classes of 2021 and 2020, which included Sonji Coney, Ron Wanek, Jack Harrell, Dwayne Hawkins, Pam Iorio and Tom Wallace – all noted as “Visionaries” in their fields.
“Creating positive change is my purpose and my passion, and it is often achieved through countless small acts of kindness,” said Colleen Chappell, CEO of ChappellRoberts. “This award is a career highlight. I’m honored to be a part of this exceptional group of leaders whose shared mission is making a measurable difference in our region and beyond,” said Chappell.
A graduate of the University of South Florida, Chappell has been awarded the most prestigious leadership awards in the region, including the Dottie Berger MacKinnon Woman of Influence Award in 2018 by the Tampa Bay Chamber, and the 2020 Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida. In 2012, Chappell received the Stevie International Female Executive of the Year, International Bronze, Business Services award for her business achievements. In 2015, she chaired the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council’s Executive Board. As Chair, she recruited the current president who is regarded as one of the strongest economic development leaders in the U.S. Her legacy is establishing a dedicated effort to engage and inspire Millennial entrepreneurs across the region – “Make it Tampa Bay.”
Chappell’s community service includes leadership positions on boards including Feeding Tampa Bay, GSP Retail, American Marketing Association, Private Directors Association, AR Homes, Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, and the University of South Florida’s Muma College of Business Executive Advisory Council.
