Tampa native Byron Crowell returns to his hometown after a solid 20-year career in Silicon Valley to restart his tech company with local Tampa talent. His mission is to support Tampa as a solidified tech hub and continue to raise the bar for Tampa Bay’s overall competitiveness to thrive.
Solution Publishing is a technology company that aggregates superior-quality content via email and online journals customized by readers’ interests. Online buying processes and signals are constantly changing, which is why Solution Publishing Journals are so powerful—they detect interest and intent when ad platforms and cookie pools fail. The technology to have the right stories presented at the right time makes all the difference.
“After growing up in Tampa, I moved to Los Angeles in 1998. California was and still is a unique place when it comes to business acumen and attitude. But world-class talent in many industries is ready to consider Tampa Bay as their home—creating a new tech hub outside Silicon Valley—and we are here to help them compete in this area,” said Crowell.
For the past two decades, Crowell developed a career in the new wave technology media space, helping build the first Internet-based mystery shopping company and having a front seat for the .com bubble, Internet implosion, social media rebound and big-tech consolidations.
“I also saw an opportunity for Tampa to not just win at professional sports, but to compete and win in the tech space as well supporting VCs, startups, incubators and accelerators alike. I’m launching Solution Publishing here to be an integral part of the exciting things happening in Tampa, to offer a launching pad and mentorship to the next generation,” explained Crowell.
Proving itself a fast-paced job-creating engine in the tech sector, Solution Publishing has exploded from two to seven employees since January 2021 and is on track to double that number again before the end of the fourth quarter. By Summer 2021, Crowell projects another 200 percent growth—each a well-paying, local job that adds value to our community with quality beyond mere dollars.
Audra Cona, Chief People Officer, said, “We’ve had great early success building our team, and our culture is unlike anything I’ve seen before. We have a competitive atmosphere where we think in terms of challenges, goals and accountability—we’re cutting-edge with a sense of fun. We’re looking for people who can adapt to the excitement of the tech pace (and rapidly learn brand new skills). The team members we’re looking for are tech savvy and can rise to our challenges – they want to embark on something bigger.”
Solution Publishing journals are unique in the market not only because of the way the content is aggregated but also because of the this-or-that model of article delivery. The reader selects this article or that to read, which informs and impacts the content they’re delivered each time. In essence, Solution Publishing journals serve up only the content that will deliver maximum impact for each subscriber. Delivering such hyper-targeted information across the HR, IT and B2B sectors requires the best-of-the-best talent in the business—and Crowell is determined to bring them to Tampa Bay.
