15 REMARKABLE TREES IN THAILAND

Biodiversity is the best part of Thailand. There are many trees available in Thailand to discover. Giant trees usually provide massive importance to the environment. They have great societal value, and the trees are treated as a study site, main attraction of tourists, and centers of communities. 

Let us take a look at the 15 useful and remarkable trees that are available in Thailand.

GIANT TREE

This Giant tualang tree is in the middle of the forest, and it is a place that is a tourist attraction. The specialty of the tree is that it has claw marks of the bear on one side. The primary support of this tree is provided by the “Buttress roots” as it reaches the ground from branches.

Place: Uthai Thani

Size: 97 meters

Age: 400 years

GIANT MONKEYPOD 

Raintree is the other name of the giant monkeypod tree. It was supposed to be carried out from Burma by the English. The veterinary and removal department naturally grows these trees. It is the main tourist spot in Kanchanaburi.

Place: Kanchanaburi

Size: 2416 square meters

Age: 100 years

THE GIANT TREE

This Giant tree is a tourist destination, and also it has a coffee shop at the top where you can sit and relax with the greenish side view. 

Place: Chiang Mai

TREE IN A RICE MILL SMOKESTACK 

This tree is a banyan tree that has a rectangular trunk growing out of a smokestack. It has 26 meters banyan.

Place: Rat Burana

Size: 2.75 meters

HEART SHAPED BODHI TREE

This bodhi tree is a heart-shaped tree that has many medical benefits. This tree is present in front of the central library of Silpakorn University.

Place: Silpakorn University

 BANYAN TREE, WAK PAK PING TAWAN TOK

 This banyan tree grows on its own and has a considerable historical significance for Thailand. The support for this tree the “air roots” that grow from branches to ground.

Place: Phitsanulok

BIG TAMARIND 

Big TamarindTree the popular Khun Chang Khun Phaen tamarind in Thai literature, six peoples have to encircle it. It taught us how tamarind leaves are transformed into guitars and hornets to fight enemies.

THAI PHAO

Thai phao tree is 2-3 hours up from the waterfall along the “seven peak trails” Nowadays, this tree is taken care of by the Ton Te Forest Reservation Unit. This tree is unfortunately damaged by erosion.

Size: 20 meters

GIANT TREE

This giant tree is the house of bees, ants, and other insects. During the festival, this tree is used as a playground for children. Local villagers believe that the spirits reside here in that tree.

DELONIX REGIA 

This tree gives a breathtaking view, and also it can reach up to the height of 12 meters. This tree looks marvelous when in bloom.

RHIZOPHORA MANGLE

This tree is a “carbon scrubber” which is one of the best in existence. These trees act as a natural stabilizer and are very predominant for the environment. 

AEGLE MARMELOS

 This tree grows huge and produces a candied fruit that resembles guava. Its barks, leaves, and roots are used in the treatment of many health-related issues. 

HEVEA BRASILIENSIS

This hevea brasiliensis tree is also called the rubber tree. For cultivation, this tree requires 1200mm per year of rainfall. 

Size: 43m (141 ft)

FISHTAIL PALM

The inner core of the Fishtail Palm provides sweet starch (carbohydrate) along with a refreshing taste. This plant is common in Southern Thailand. It is present both in coastal regions and in dense jungles of old-growth.

Place: Southern Thailand

ELEPHANT FOOT YAM

This plant contains edible root which is used as an anti-bacteria for many for the disease. It consists of vitamins and minerals.

Trees are the hard workers of the plant world, often under-estimated. They clean up the air. They help keep our and planet cool. Everywhere too are trees. There are over three trillion trees across the planet! It is therefore quite easy not to see even the trees in our middle. It makes it easier not to notice some of the most imposing and remarkable trees in the world.
