TAMPA—The Tampa Tiger Bay Club will host a luncheon discussion on Friday, May 21 on the local impact of the 2021 Florida Legislature.
The regular session drew national attention with legislation banning transgender girls’ participation in sports, increased voting restrictions and a so-called anti-riot bill.
And it’s not over: the Tiger Bay forum comes the same week as a special session on a deal with the Seminole Tribe to expand gambling in Florida, including at the Tribe’s Tampa casino.
For the first time in recent memory, both chambers of the Legislature were led by Tampa Bay lawmakers. How did we fare as a community and who were the biggest winners and losers?
The discussion will feature Patrick Manteiga, Editor and Publisher of La Gaceta; and Peter Schorsch, Publisher of FloridaPolitics.com. We will also honor the memory of our executive director, Janine Dorsey, who was killed this week by an impaired driver.
The forum will be in the ballroom of the Cuban Club in Ybor City. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins promptly at noon. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance by visiting TigerBayClub.com.
Tampa Tiger Bay Club President Tom Scherberger will moderate the discussion. Only Tiger Bay Club members may ask questions. To become a member, go to https://www.tigerbayclub.com/join-tbc/
