WHO: Tampa Cares Coalition (Collaboration of the Caribbean Associations and Organizations of Tampa Bay)
WHAT: Organizations are collaborating to collect relief supplies for victims of the Soufrierre Volcano Eruption in St Vincent & the Grenadines

Local organizations including Caribbean American National Development Organization (CANDO), B Positivo, Caribbean Cultural Association, Barbados Association of Tampa Bay, Dominican Association of Tampa Bay, Friends of Grenada, Tampa Caribbean Festival along with DJ Spice, Top Notch, One Love, Matrix Entertainment are providing disaster recovery aid to the Caribbean region after the devastating volcanic eruptions of Soufrierre in St Vincent and the Grenadines. These organizations collaborated five years ago to establish Tampa Cares with the purpose of collecting goods and funds for those affected by natural disasters. A volunteer team will be on hand at the venue provided by Ridge Down Construction to receive, sort, and pack donations, which will be shipped as the containers are prepared. For the safety of donors and volunteers social distancing, masks and other Covid safety guidelines will be enforced.
Items being requested include: Baby supplies (clothing, diapers, and wipes), towels, sheets and linens; large plastic storage containers, small kitchen appliances, canned food and openers, adult diapers, personal hygiene items (deodorant, lotion, shampoo, feminine products), brooms, mops and squeegees, school supplies and tarpaulins. Items will be disseminated with the help of local organizations to ensure quick deployment for those in dire need.
