(Bradenton, Fla., May 04, 2021) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) recognized SCF Bradenton Spring 2021 graduates for their exceptional academic achievements and dedicated service to the College with a virtual Honors Convocation ceremony on Friday, April 30.
SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld welcomed the students, and Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Todd G. Fritch closed the ceremony with a charge to honorees.
“I commend our Manatees for their distinguished honors and take great pride in their commitment to representing our college community in spite of the unique circumstances of this past year,” said Dr. Probstfeld. “The fortitude you have displayed will equip you to successfully navigate your future.”
Dr. Probstfeld presented the SCF Image Award to Jennifer Josaphat and Patricia Hogancamp in recognition of their ability to overcome obstacles to reach academic and college success.
The Wayne Gulbrandsen Academic Scholarship for Single Parents was awarded to three students: Pamela Schueler, Camryn Gulash and Beatrice Moodie-Campbell.
Amanda Overly, Ed Urena, Susana Diaz-Renteria, Donovan Green-Edwards and Ryan Davison all received The Founders Award from the SCF Entrepreneurship Club.
Sixteen SCF Bradenton paralegal students received awards. Katie Boswell and Rachel Burr were presented the Outstanding Student in Legal Research and Writing awards. Five students received the Outstanding Advanced Technical Certificate in Legal Assistant/Paralegal Studies: Daisy Acevedo Gonzalez, Yesenia Balderas, Pamela Harris, Linette Hollandsworth and Anabel Martinez. Seven students received the Outstanding Associate Technical Certificate in Legal Assistant/Paralegal Studies: Melissa Miles, Elisabetta Alfonso, Jacob Schweighofer, Ciara Bloomfield, Victoria Williams, Brian Harrison and Patricia Hogancamp.
Rachel Burr and Bernadette Harris-Brodi were also named Outstanding Paralegal Club members.
Denise Goerke was awarded the Excellence in Economics award, April Toro was recognized for her Excellence in Risk Management and Insurance, and Eric Kimsey received the Outstanding Academic Performance in Business Entrepreneurship Program.
Sebastian Mark took home both math awards: the Mathematics Department Award in Developmental Mathematics and the Memorial Award.
Four students were recognized for their achievements in writing and literature: Hannah Donaldson, Literature Award – Critical Work; Autumn Hoefle, Literature Award – Critical Essay; Carsyn Carpenter, Creative Writing Poetry; and Richard Hollis, Creative Writing Prose.
Six awards were presented for Outstanding Students in American Sign Language to Emily Brophy, Chad Ridler, Danny Gibson, Shelbie Davis, Ashley Avellan and Loah Carmichael.
Other Outstanding Student/Graduate Awards went to Alicia Axelius, General Chemistry; Rossgraciell Benavides, Biology; Matthew Houser, Organic Chemistry; Magnolia Valdez, Biotechnology; Stephanie Dolan, Accounting; Arianna Dulin, Studio Art; Tanya Harris, Occupational Therapy Assistant; and Alexis Pipino and Samuel Stahlmann, Language – Spanish I.
