TAMPA, FL-We are honored to invite the local community to join Friends of Joshua House Foundation to celebrate the Grand Reopening of Joshua House on Friday May 21, 2021 at 1515 Michelin Court, Tampa, FL 33549.
Events scheduled for the day include a program and luncheon for VIP Sponsors & Guests from 11:45AM to 1:00 PM and then tours and an Open House for guests and friends with light refreshments and entertainment from 1:30-5:00PM.
In early 2020, Childrens Home Society of Florida decided to close the Joshua House residential program and moved all the children out. Friends of Joshua House Foundation entered into negotiations with CHS to “Save Joshua House” by purchasing this property and the homes back. We successfully settled, and FOJH took a leap of faith by obtaining a loan to buy this beautiful 11-acre property in Lutz, FL, in July for 2.6 million dollars.
This park-like setting called Joshua House has 5 residential homes, a large multi-use building with a combined library and learning center, an activity center, and multiple offices. In addition, the property boasts a large clinical/therapy center and other ancillary buildings, all of which have served over 3,000 abused children these past 28 years.
The continual occupancy of the homes and buildings for 28 years was a deterrent to upgrades and renovations. After purchasing the grounds and buildings, it became apparent to FOJH that Joshua House needed restoring. Some of these homes and spaces required significant renovations to restore structural integrity.
The Tampa Bay community stepped up not only to donate and help raise money for the renovations, but many companies donated their time and resources to see this project through
The renovations are complete and now we are ready to celebrate the reopening of Joshua House. For more information or to register to attend, please visit https://tinyurl.com/JHGrandReopening.
