St. Petersburg, Florida – (April 16, 2021) – In 2016, Northside Hospital performed the first transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in St. Petersburg. Since then the Northside Hospital Structural Heart team has successfully performed over 300 TAVR procedures. The program consists of a multi-disciplinary team, led by a cardiothoracic surgeon, interventional cardiologist, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses and caregivers bringing the highest level of heart care to our community. Over the years, the program has expanded to include Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair or Replacement (TMVR) and Left Atrial Appendage Closure (PFO/ASD Closure). These therapies are less invasive, require less time in the hospital and provide a faster return to normal life.
