Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) has named Lauren Baker Murray, DMA, as the inaugural executive director for the new Instructional Performing Arts Center (IPAC). Murray joined PHSC on March 15, 2021.

“Dr. Murray brings a portfolio of experience that uniquely aligns with the missional and operational focus of the IPAC,” said Kevin O’Farrell, Ph.D., provost, Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch, PHSC. “Her rich background and notable success in the arts education and performance areas will be instrumental in establishing and growing this center’s presence and service to our students and community.”

Most recently, she served as the music chair at the Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center in Tampa. During her tenure she was successful in doubling the enrollment in their music programming and worked collaboratively with higher education and secondary school leaders to create custom arts programing in the region.

Murray has served as an associate director of the School of Music at the University of Northern Colorado and as the coordinator of artistic programming in the School of Music at the University of South Florida. She has also served as the director of operations and education for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she served as an instructor in higher education and is an accomplished oboe instrumentalist.

Murray holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Stetson University, a Master of Music from Yale University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas.

“The beautiful new IPAC is a treasure chest of possibilities and will be utilized in a wide variety of educational and community events,” said Murray. “The opportunity to work as an executive director of such an amazing, brand new facility was enchanting.”
