An Imagination Destination Where Books Come To Life
When: Saturday April 24 2021
Where: Ed Smith Stadium
2700 12th Street, Sarasota
Time: 9am-12pm
Take a right onto Reading Road, a left on Literacy Lane, and follow the sights, sounds and signs to STORYBOOK STREET.
The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County is excited to collaborate with local arts and culture organizations to bring children’s books to life. Designed with little ones in mind, Storybook Street is a FREE, family-friendly, fun-filled, drive-thru book giveaway. The event, or more like an extravaganza, is ideal for children between the ages of birth to 7. It will feature dance, drama, art, music, movement and more. Each car will drive away with at least a dozen new children’s books, a swag bag of goodies and meaningful, memorable moments to help foster an early love of reading.
We are excited to partner with Sarasota’s premier arts community as we showcase the many talents of artists from Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet, Venice Theatre, Ringling College, Ringling Museum ROAR program, The Players Centre, Venice Symphony, and Irish Dance Academy of Sarasota. Our list of collaborators continues with Sarasota County Libraries, Siesta Key Kiwanis Club, Gulf Coast Latin Chamber of Commerce, Pi Beta Phi Sarasota-Manatee Alumnae Club, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, and Sarasota County Fire Department.
Children are welcome to dress up as their favorite storybook character! And, to add to the children’s excitement, some of those favorite characters will be in costume, meeting and greeting their little fans as they wait in the car queue. As a continued health and safety measure, we ask that all adults at the event wear masks. All families must remain in their cars for the entire event.
The Early Learning Coalition looks forward to your coverage of our unique and special event!
