Guest speakers include representatives from Doctors Hospital, Blake Medical Center, and Galen College of Nursing.
(Sarasota-Manatee) According to RegisteredNursing.org, by 2030, Florida will have the highest disparity between nursing supply and demand in the nation, with the state projected to need over 57,000 nurses. And COVID-19 has only amplified the significance of this looming nursing shortage. Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is hosting an online webinar on March 24 to encourage more women to explore various nursing career pathways, including Nurse Assistant (CNA), Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), and beyond. The session is part of WRC’s monthly Career Connections program that links women to quality jobs and funded training programs. The free informational webinar is on March 24 from noon-1 p.m. Participants can attend by phone or computer and will be able to ask questions via a chatbox. Those interested can register at www.mywrc.org/Nursing or call (941) 256-9721 for more information.
Panelists include representatives from Doctors Hospital, Blake Medical Center, and Galen College of Nursing. Given all three of these organizations are owned by HCA Healthcare, many opportunities exist to receive paid training for various caregiver roles at these facilities. Fully funded training and tuition reimbursement programs will be explained, with local monthly classes available.
HCA Healthcare announced one year ago that it had acquired majority ownership in Galen College of Nursing, one of the largest educators of nurses in the U.S. The partnership helps expand access to education and nursing career development through Galen’s on-campus and online programs. Additional benefits include tuition reimbursement for most full- and part-time HCA employees, student loan debt assistance, and expanded certification offerings.
WRC also offers free individual career coaching. To learn more about this Career Connections information session or other services available at WRC, please call 941-256-9721 or visit mywrc.org.
