LEESBURG, Fla. (March 8, 2021) – Nationally-recognized real estate executive and philanthropist, John Crossman, has been honored with Beacon College’s Difference Maker Award in this month’s episode of Beacon TV’s “A World of Difference.”
Crossman, who was diagnosed with dyslexia later in life and in his career, never let the challenges he faced define him or inhibit his opportunities. Finding his own path to success, he rose to the role of CEO at Orlando-based Crossman & Company, one of the largest retail leasing, management and investment real estate firms in the southeast. He also became the youngest person inducted into Florida State University’s College of Business Hall of Fame.
Since being diagnosed with dyslexia, Crossman set himself on a new course and founded Crossman Career Builders, a career development organization created to help college students and young professionals reach their potential. Through his continued efforts, including speaking engagements at colleges nationwide (including Beacon College) and his published work, Crossman helps young people find their way, fulfilling a lifelong mission to serve marginalized populations through motivation and inspiration from his own experiences.
“A World of Difference” is a TV series produced by Beacon College that celebrates and supports the families of children with learning and developmental disabilities such as ADHD, dyslexia and autism. Its episodes examine neurodiversity issues related to learning disabilities experienced from birth to adult years, using compelling storytelling, conversations with experts, viewer Q&As and interviews with successful individuals with learning differences of their own. In each episode, the Difference Maker Award is bestowed upon an individual who has, as the name of the award denotes, made a difference for the learning differences community.
