TAMPA, FL. (March 3, 2021) – Women In Radio (WIR) will host its 5th Annual Cocktails, Cupcakes, and Conversations event on Saturday, March 6. The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Leadership Foundation is sponsoring this affair. For the safety of all attendees and panelists, this event will be virtual. This yearly event upholds its mission to encourage and support the advancement of women in the radio industry.
Participants will have the opportunity to have a speed aircheck session with award-winning Program Director, Mary K, this year. The NAB Leadership Foundation will also have three giveaways for their First Time Manager series, a five-part online session that helps first-time managers transition from an individual contributor to a team leader role, valued at $450.
“This pandemic has changed and shaped many industries, including radio. This year it was imperative, more than ever, for Women In Radio to continue to advocate and provide resources for women in this industry by still holding this event,” said Meaghan Taylor, Founder of Women In Radio.
The 2020 Newsroom Diversity Survey conducted by the Radio and Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) found that women accounted for 39.9% of the radio workforce in 2020.
The 2019 conference was in Atlanta, GA, with over 200 attendees. This year’s session is expecting to have over 300 participants.
WIR Ambassador Jessica Rose will serve as the host. Panelists include nationally syndicated radio host Dana Cortez, iHeartRadio Market President Nicky Sparrow, marketing industry leader Bethany Kent, award-winning media executive Charese Fruge, Radio One’s VP of Programming Kashon Powell, and Carla Marie, host of the Carla Marie and Anthony Show.
The organization offers a monthly membership program that allows members access to job postings, one-on-one consultations, exclusive emails, discounts on merchandise, and more.
