Transforming the streets of St. Petersburg into a curated, open-air museum with murals by international, national & local artists. The SHINE newsletter, ILLUMINATE keeps you up to date on the murals and artists that breathe life into St. Petersburg. The 2020 special edition of SHINE in partnership with PangeaSeed Foundation featured 12 Florida based artists bringing the ocean into the streets for SHINE x Sea Walls St. Pete. Click the photo for a full recap. The SHINE office facilitated four You Good, Pinellas? murals aimed at raising awareness for mental health, behavioral health and substance abuse. SHINE Spotlight We appreciate the artists, business owners, property owners and sponsors that keep us SHINING year after year. Each month, we’ll feature one of our favorite supporters to learn more about what SHINE means to them. Meet Eric Von Kaenel, VP & General Manager at Goodyear Rubber Products, Inc. Goodyear Rubber Products donated walls to SHINE in 2018 & 2020. What motivated you? Goodyear Rubber Products, Inc. felt as if the opportunity to participate in the SHINE Mural Festival was a win win for many reasons. The chance to promote art in our community, in the unique way of the mural paintings, was huge. As our beautiful city becomes known for these artistic displays, and they become tourist attractions by their own right, we knew it was something we wanted to embrace. They are part of the “fabric” of Saint Petersburg, and we feel that our 73-year-old company is also part of that fabric, as many of our customers tell us about coming to our facility as children, with their parents, and how everyone knows Goodyear Rubber. As a local business, what are the benefits of receiving a SHINE mural? Having people associate your company with something that strikes the imagination, the way art can and does, does nothing but good for the image of your company and it inspires pride in the people who work there, too. Seeing people coming by to have pictures taken of your building, to share with art lovers across the country and across the world, can’t help but instill a feeling of having made a difference in your community, and in the lives of the citizens within it.Donate Your WallBe a SHINE Sponsor |
