Florida is one of the states that have stringent requirements when it comes to driving down the road. After all, having a driver’s license is a privilege. The state has the option to revoke the driver’s license, especially if you get involved with road-related issues. One of the prerequisites to be allowed to drive on Florida’s road is to pass the driving test. To help you get ready for the Florida driving test, here are the steps you should take.
Focus on the necessary skills before taking the test.
- Three-point turn
One of the essential driving skills you need to execute flawlessly to pass the driving test is the three-point-turn. You have to turn your car around the area of about 35 feet in diameter or known as the Y-turn or K-turn. You have to use the two primary gears; forward and reverse. The goal is to turn around without making a U-turn.
- Parking
Parking is a big part of the test, although parallel parking is no longer necessary. However, you have to successfully park your car in the center of the parking space and back out again.
- Backing up
Once you’re done with the parking test, the next step is to back your car up in the straight line for about 50 feet. Turn your head to the rear as you maneuver your vehicle.
- Sudden stops
While you are driving at about 20 miles per hour, you have to stop smoothly suddenly. Your ability to stop entirely at sure road signs will also be tested, such as the red lights and road hazards.
- Signaling and turning
Turning is crucial as your ability to turn at corners and intersections is measured. More so, you have to use the right signal when turning. Timing and precision are the two skills tested when signaling and turning.
- Changing lane
When changing a lane, you have to show the examiner that you know how to use the turn indicator signal before changing a lane.
- Practice defensive driving
This is the ultimate test, the highlight of the exam. In this part of the test, you are showing the examiner that you know your vehicle, especially using the mirrors and adjusting them inside and outside. Defensive driving is maintaining a certain distance from other vehicles and pedestrians. Be keen on using the emergency brake, headlights, and hazard lights. It shows that you are prepared for any incidents that might take place on the road.
Take a Florida driving course.
Taking the driving test can be nerve-wracking. There are instances when you would forget some of the steps because you are too anxious. To help you prepare for the test, it would be nice if you are going to take a driver’s training course. It will prepare you for everything you need to know about passing a driving test in Florida. It includes both theoretical and practical applications. Hence, the chances of passing the driving test are higher as opposed to practicing on your own.
