Washing a car is often one of the most relaxing and invigorating experiences as it returns your car to its amazingly new appearance. The feeling of driving your car with its crystal shine in heaven. With such a feeling, it is ironic that a bird bomb is one of the worst things that can come right out of the heavens and ruin both your perfect day and your car’s perfect appearance. In fact, there are few things so frustrating as bird bombs, but you can decrease the chance of being bombed by taking cover or wrapping your car in such things as body armor.
1. Cover
The most obvious way to protect your car from bird bombs is by parking it under some sort of cover. Cover can consist of an overhang at an office building or at your home. If you have a garage, your car will enjoy protection throughout the night.
If, however, you do not have a garage, you can purchase a relatively inexpensive yet formidable carport. An aluminum carport, for instance, can withstand winds, rain, and birds. Moreover, it can be installed wherever you live, so it will accommodate your particular property.
2. Strategic parking
Because a carport does not offer much protection when you are away from home, you will need to pay very close attention to your surroundings and ensure that you park away from trees. That said, bird bombs can be dropped on your car if you are unlucky enough to park beneath a wire. Even if you do not park near a wire, your car can still be pummeled if you park near a light pole. Consequently, you will need to get in the habit of parking in spots out in the open and away from anything. This might mean walking farther to a store’s entrance, but it is an exercise that will prove worth it.
3. Body armor
Strategic parking will only work to a certain degree. After all, a bird bomb can hit you as you are driving, and there is nothing at all you can do to avoid it as you often do not know it has been dropped until you are hit. Consequently, it is in your interest to invest in something known as a ceramic coating. For instance, if you apply the ceramic coating in Brisbane, your car will receive protection from the front bumper all the way to the back bumper in the form of a ceramic-based fluid that coats your car like gleaming armor.
Obviously, it does not protect you from being hit by bird bombs. It does, however, protect against the damage bird bombs can do to your car. If you are hit, all you have to do is spray and wipe. The coating causes the chemical material in these nasty bombs to not stick to your car.
In order to get the best protection, you will need to have the ceramic-based coating applied to your car by a reputable dealer. Once it is applied, you will enjoy up to five years of protection against any bird no matter where you park or drive.
4. Temporary cover
Temporary cover can consist of a car cover, which you can stretch from one bumper to the other. With the cover stretched out over your car, bird bombs will be effectively blocked. Because covers are made of UV-resistant material that is also water-resistant, the bird bombs will wash off with a sprayer. For anything that does not come off completely, you can throw your car cover into a washer. For best performance, you can buy two covers. Doing so will allow your car to remain protected when one cover is in the wash.
5. Temporary armor
Whereas ceramic coating offers permanent protection, a wax coating can provide temporary protection if you are willing to put in the muscle work required to apply it to your car. A wax coating should be applied in at least three layers for the best appearance. The good thing about a wax layer on your car is that it is a good way to enjoy time with your car. Once you are done applying the wax, it will shine just like it did when you drove it off the lot and was hit with your first bird bomb. Of course, the wax is temporary. After 90 to 120 days, you will need to take an afternoon and apply another few layers.
