The New American Remodel® 2021

ORLANDO, Fla – As one of the official exhibit homes of the 2021 International Builders’ Show® virtual experience (IBSx), The New American Remodel® 2021 has been certified Platinum by the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the state’s leading certifier of green residential and commercial construction, land developments and local governments.

The home was certified by FGBC’s Drew Smith of Two Trails Inc., a world-wide sustainable building consulting firm established in 2001 headquartted in Florida with offices in Nevada, Georgia, and Illinois. Platinum is the highest level of certification.

The project transformed a dated, energy-devouring, 1973-built home into a modern showcase of contemporary living and ultra-energy efficiency. The New American Remodel® 2021 demonstrates the significant impact of today’s advanced construction techniques and innovative building products.

“As one of the NAHB’s official show homes, The New American Remodel (TNAR) 2021 is a symbol of energy efficiency and innovation. The home exhibits cutting-edge products from manufacturers all over the world,” noted Smith.

This year marks Two Trails 12th year as the sustainable building consultants for National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) showcase homes.

Founded in 2000, non-profit FGBC just passed the 24,500 mark in “Florida Green” certifications of single-family homes, commercial buildings, high-rises, land developments and local governments.

“My passion is really in sustainable building. So when I’m given the opportunity to transform a home like [this], I really enjoy focusing on the energy and environmental aspects of the project,” said Rob Smith, owner of E2 Homes and lead builder of the 2021 remodel. “The house turned out even better than I imagined.”

Two decades ago, FGBC brought together industry professionals from the construction, government, academic and research communities to create green standards tailored specifically to Florida. Beyond third party certifications, FGBC is also a resource for the builders, developers, contractors, architects, and municipalities when considering going green.

“The New American Remodel is one of NAHB’s most successful and visible programs produced and presented by the NAHB Leading Suppliers Council. We are excited that the home as been certified at the Platinum level. The design, construction and amenities are market driven, and showcase the latest in innovative products for the future of home building,” added FGBC President Bill Kachman.

“Florida Green” standards take a scientific approach and are developed with state-specific criteria. They address Florida’s hot-humid environment, climate, distinctive topography, unique geology, resiliency, and natural disasters.

The New American Remodel 2021, as well as its counterpart, The New American Home 2021, will be officially unveiled this week during IBSx. Show attendees will have exclusive access to virtual video presentations, in addition to immersive 3D virtual tours.
