Award-Winning Artist Ya La’Ford Commissioned By the NFL for Super Bowl Commemorative Gifts

February 7, 2021 by Post

NFL Team Owners to Receive La’Ford’s Sun.Sphere

Working with the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee and Business Connect to support Super Bowl 55 diversity initiatives, Ya La’Ford is chosen by the National Football League (NFL) to create this year’s tribute gifts for the NFL team owners. Each NFL owner will be presented with SUN-SPHERE, a La’Ford original painting created for each NFL team owner inspired by the energy of the sport and its power to unify and unite people all over the globe.

“SUN-SPHERE is a dramatic geometric abstract tribute created for each NFL team owner that bridges the energizing power of art, sports, and community with the memorable experience of Superbowl 55 in sunny Tampa Bay. Designed to be a visually arresting experience, SUN-SPHERE captivates just like the talented football athletes on the field who amaze their fans with athletic feats and heroic efforts,” says La’Ford.

Known for artwork with bold geometric paintings and designs, La’Ford’s creations explore themes of connection, transformation, and transcendence. La’Ford’s Sun.Sphere highlights the cyclical relationship with the Super Bowl host city of Tampa, the NFL owners, the fan connection to the athletes, and the relevance of sports in stimulating global unification.

Adds La’Ford, “Regardless of how much our path may differ from another’s, the core of the human condition remains the same. The lines show a retroactive nature of the ability to trace back to a beginning. The increasingly complex language I am building, forming an optical vortex of order, reflects this. The complexities we feel – the joys, the humiliations, the strife – are branches stemming from the root of this obsession.”.

Every year, the NFL recognizes, honors, and celebrates the significant contributions of their NFL team owners with a gift following the Super Bowl. LaKendria Robinson, Director of Business Connect & Community Outreach for the Super Bowl LV Host Committee and Bemetra Salter Liggins, Chair of the Business Connect Committee, were instrumental in making this opportunity available.

Ya La’ford’s exhibition, “Distance” is on view through Feb. 25 at Gallery 221 on Hillsborough Community College’s Dale Mabry campus. The gallery is located across the street fom Raymond James Stadium where Super Bowl 55 will be played. Register to attend on the gallery’s website. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday. 4001 W Tampa Bay Blvd., Tampa. 813-253-7674.
