Shady Hills — The 2020 Celebration of Lights at The Concourse was produced and managed by the 2020 Celebration of Lights committee. The event was presented by Farrell Cares and brought to you by our partners at Grand Concourse Railroad, Pasco Safety Town, Pasco County Parks and Recreation and West Pasco Sertoma. Over 25 businesses and community members sponsored lights, helping to make this event a success for our community. The event welcomed thousands of cars and their riders with over a mile and half of light displays upon the route.
It was a safe, magical drive throughout The Concourse and Pasco Safety Town. Santa visited Smokey’s Cabin in Pasco Safety Town while his Elf helpers passed out goodies and gifts to cars passing by. Grand Concourse Railroad’s miniature decorated Holiday Train ran on a brand-new section of track through their lighted Christmas Wonderland, past the beach, tree lot, Whoville and more with a brief stop at Santa’s workshop. The Grand Concourse Railroad welcomed thousands of riders this past year.
Proceeds from the event went to support A Ride for Nova, Farrell Cares Inc., Hope Lutheran Church Hudson, Krewe of Chasco, Pasco County Parks and Recreations Summer Scholarships, Pasco Safety Town, Sheriff’s Explorers Post 916, The Angelus and West Pasco Sertoma.
A member of the event committee was quoted as saying “Seeing the enjoyment on the kid’s faces looking at lights, singing Christmas carols, and getting so excited to see Santa as they drive by, makes all the hard work worthwhile.” Another said, “being able to give back to the community while working and building our relationship with our partners at The Concourse was the icing on the cake.”
This community event was founded by Dave Parris, who passed away in 2015. He fashioned this holiday light show after the one in his hometown, with hopes young families would create memories and someday bring their grandchildren.
The Celebration of Lights at The Concourse will be back and brighter than ever in November 2021! Visit CelebrationofLightsFL.org for more details. ###
