TAMPA (Jan. 20, 2021)—Hillsborough Clerk of Court & Comptroller Cindy Stuart announced today that certified Official Records are now available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year online at hillsclerk.com.
The change means tens of thousands of certified documents that previously were available only by visiting one of the Clerk’s offices in person during weekday business hours can be purchased from the comfort of someone’s home or office at any time.
“This initiative supports the goal I have set to allow our customers the ability to conduct all of their business with my office remotely,” Stuart said. “We intend to continue our efforts to offer digital access to as many online services as the law allows for the convenience of our customers.”
Nearly 60 types of certified Official Records documents are now available online, including marriage licenses, deeds, notices of commencement and divorces. The Clerk’s Office provides approximately 47,000 certified documents annually.
Once a customer purchases an electronic certified copy of a document they have up to 30 days to download and store the document for future use. This allows our customers to maintain their own documents for multiple uses and printing.
This latest initiative is in line with future plans to automate all records, and they come eight months after the Clerk’s Office offered electronic certified copies of court records for the first time. Since then, more than 2,000 electronic certified court documents have been provided.
